Visual Literacy in Art Museums

Die Veranstaltung ist eine Kooperation der Bayerischen Museumsakademie mit der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, der Katholischen Universität Leuven/Belgien, dem European Network for Visual Literacy (ENViL) und dem Toledo Museum of Art.

Zur Veranstaltung:
There are several approaches to bring together concepts of visual literacy and concepts of the art museum, ENViL, Toledo, Leuven etc. The conference at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich brings these attempts into dialogue and will discuss similarities and differences among relevant concepts. The main questions are: Which theoretical models of visual literacy are relevant and how can they be implemented or applied to practice (both, mediation and presentation/curating in museums)? Is there something like ‘visual literacy for museums’? Which are the key aspects in this context?
