The Bavarian Museum Academy is a joint initiative of
- Centre For Museum Education in Munich (Museumspädagogisches Zentrum München)
- Bavarian federal office for non-governmental museums (Landesstelle für die nichtstaatlichen Museen in Bayern)
- Institute of Bavarian History at Ludwig Maximilan University of Munich (Institut für Bayerische Geschichte)
We are supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Science and the Arts.
Since 2011 the Bavarian Museum Academy has been offering advanced education as well as professional development in all fields of museum activities. In 2016 alone we organized over 70 events with 1800 participants.
Apart from two major conferences and educational excursions to select museum locations in Europe, we chair meetings, workshops and seminars on topics such as museum education, museology, exhibition planning and recent developments in the museum world.
In the past years the Bavarian Museum Academy has developed special programmes for two of its target groups. It offers a certified qualification as well as advanced education for teachers to strengthen the partnership between museums and schools. We also offer a certified qualification for advanced students. The interdisciplinary training modules are designed to convey theoretical principles of museum work as well as train their practical implication. We encourage our students to establish first professional contacts in the museum world. Certification course
